Above anything else, I have always been willing to splurge a little on more expensive skincare products because I believe that having great skin comes way before makeup or anything else. Most people look to more expensive brands for skincare usually because of the ingredients, but what if I told you that it was possible to get amazing skin and amazing ingredients all for an amazing price? Well InnisFree is a Korean skincare, makeup, and hair care brand that makes amazing products with all natural ingredients all at drugstore prices. Innisfree uses all natural ingredients from Jeju island where fertile plants grow due to the nutrients in the soil from the volcano. They recently opened up their first store in Japan and I went a little crazy when I was in Tokyo a couple of weeks ago.
Skincare:
Innisfree is primarily known for their skincare and since Korean skincare is always ahead of the game, I knew that I wanted to try as many products as I could.
Sheet Masks:
With 18 different sheet masks displayed on a wall, I was little overwhelmed, but I decided to take the opportunity to try sheet masks with ingredients that I had never see before. I have already tried tons of sheet masks made with aloe or cucumber so instead, I decided to go with the more exotic ingredients such as acai and oatmeal. At the end I ended up getting seven sheet masks and the ones I have already tried, I will definitely need to be getting more of. I got oatmeal, which is great for smoothing out your skin, tea tree, which is awesome for healing and cleansing your skin, rice, which is meant to clear your skin, fig, which is perfect for purifying your skin, manuka honey, which is supposed to provide really thick moisture to the skin, ginseng, which is great for more radiant and moisturized skin, and acai, which will smooth and perfect your skin. Each of the face masks is made with eucalyptus fibers so it really soaks up the serum and doesn't dry out while it's on your face.
Green Tea Seed Set:
If you are new to this brand and have your eye on a ton of products that you want to try, I really recommend going for the skincare sets because you get a full size product and a bunch of travel size products all for the price of the full size. It's almost like you bought a full size product and are getting a bunch of minis for free. This set came with a full size Green Tea Seed Serum and I've never used a serum before this one, mostly because I didn't think my skin needed one. However, as soon as I tried this one, I fell in love because it is really light and not oily. The green tea seed extract and oil is meant to preserve your skin's natural moisture and replenish your skin's nutrients. It dries and soaks up into the skin really easily, but doesn't leave your skin feeling tight. Because of this, I like to use this every night right after I cleanse my face
before my skin dries out. The light texture also makes this the perfect base product for any skincare you want to put on top of it.
The next thing this set came with was the Green Tea Seed Foam Cleanser. It is also made with green tea extract so it is going to be really moisturizing without making your skin oily. It is super easy to use and lathers up really well. I love it so much that as soon as I'm done with this mini, I definitely need to get my hands on a full size.
Finally, this set came with a mini of the Green Tea Seed essence-in-lotion and the Green Tea Seed Skin toner. At first, I was really worried that these products would make me too oily if I used them together because of how moisturizing green tea is supposed to be. But they didn't do that because these products are only made with green tea extract and no other outside oils. I really recommend anything in this line for people with combination or oily skin because it will deliver the hydration you need without ever clogging your pores with oil.
Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask Set:
The other set that I was able to get my hands on was the Volanic Pore Clay Mask set which came with the full sized Super Volcanic Clay Mask and a little silicone tool to apply it. The mask is really thick and creamy with pieces of volcanic clusters to exfoliate your skin. Once you wash it off your face, your skin will feel really clean because the volcanic clusters are meant to draw all the excess oil and impurities from your skin.
The other products that it comes with are minis of the Jeju volcanic pore cleansing foam and the Jeju volcanic pore toner. The great thing about any product with clay or volcanic clusters like these ones is that they will give you a really deep clean. They draw and absorb any excess dirt left in your
pores without stripping your skin of its natural moisture. I would highly recommend this set for anyone with oily skin because of the volcanic clusters' ability to clean out and close up your pores.
Olive Oil Cleansing Wipes:
I guess that this would still fall under the category of skincare because its not a makeup product even though it does an amazing job at removing all your makeup. I pretty much only use makeup wipes when I am traveling, but these might have just turned me onto using them everyday. These wipes are made with real olive oil so they are super nourishing and moisturizing so that your skin does't feel tight and dry after you take off your makeup. And while the actual wipes themselves do not feel oily or leave an oily residue on your skin, the olive oil does a really good job at breaking down all the makeup that is on your eyes and face, even waterproof mascara.
Green Tea Mist:
I bought this because I love little aerosols like this when I am traveling. They feel amazing after I get off the plane or just when I end up in a place with hot and humid weather. I usually just use aerosol water sprays, but I wanted to try this one out because it is just as refreshing and the green tea makes it even more moisturizing. It has a lot of essential minerals and amino acids to really lock in the skin's moisture without oil.
Makeup
Even though Innisfree is much more known for their skincare, I knew that I had to pick up at least one makeup product from the brand to give it a shot.
Cushion:
So I made this mistake when I went because I didn't realize that every part of the cushion is sold separately, but if you do decide to buy this product, make sure you get a cushion case, a cushion refill, and a sponge applicator. I was dumb and didn't read the box and was really surprised when I came home to just a cushion refill with no sponge or compact. And while it is really cool that you can choose a custom case for your cushion, I find the actual product much more exciting. The cushion is really easy to use and the actual product blends out so easily with the sponge. It also has decent coverage and stays flawless all day. And when I say all day, I mean all day. I wore this is as my foundation for all 3 days of Coachella and after dancing all day in the heat, I came home and it still looked perfect.
Haircare:
These purchases were completely random and spontaneous purchases, but I am so glad I tried these products because they completely changed my hair.
Refreshing Shampoo:
One of the reasons that I wanted to try this was because I felt like the shampoo I was using before was not actually cleaning my hair. My hair was getting oily really fast and it just didn't feel clean when I got out of the shower. However this shampoo is great because it washes all the dirt and oil out of hair, but then still keeps my hair really soft.
Repairing Conditioner:
I really love this conditioner because it is super thick and almost feels like a hair mask. However, as soon as I wash it off, my hair feels so light and airy. It is actually moisturizes my hair without making it feel oily. I recently cut my hair and usually my ends begin to feel dry after a couple of days, but with this conditioner, my ends still feel super thick and healthy.
