As I was looking through my makeup, skincare, and hair care products, I realized that I a lot of products I use on a daily basis are ones that I have repurchased several times and probably cannot live without. Now, believe me, I love trying new products and you will find me acting like a giddy little girl when I walk out of Sephora with something new, but in my opinion, there is also something super comforting about using a product that you know works. All of the products I'm about to share I have been using for years and I have recommended them to several of my friends. I just thought it was time other people heard how great they are too.
I have always said that the basis to any great makeup look or even outfit is great skin and trying new skincare products is always one of the scariest things for me because I never know if I'm going to have some sort of adverse reaction to them. However, I have curated a list of my holy grail products, that I gone through several bottles, tubes, jars, etc. of, which will work for all skin types and people of all ages.
Cleanser:
The first product that I must mention is the Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser. This used to be a pretty popular product that I would see beauty influencers using on youtube in like 2016, but recently I haven't seen it talked about much with is a shame considering how good this product is. The main reason I love this product is in name, its SIMPLE! There are no fancy exotic ingredients that have a long list of claims behind them, but rather it has the basics, the good stuff. This isn't made to be any kind of treatment cleanser so all it really does is cleanse! Because of the simplicity of this product, I have never found it to be irritating on the skin. It is super gentle and doesn't strip the skin of it's natural moisture. And even without all of the fancy stuff other cleansers on the market have in them, this one still does a great job at removing dirt and excess makeup. I have gone through 2 or 3 bottles of this cleanser and I have even recommended it to one of my roommates who is now hooked on it as well.
Serum:
The next product I knew I had to include on the list as soon as I genuinely felt saddened as I started to see the bottom of the bottle. It is the Innisfree Intense Hydrating Serum with Green Tea Seed Serum. I first picked up a bottle when visiting the Innisfree store in Tokyo and I have since used it up and repurchased it in the Innisfree store in Los Angeles. As you can see in the picture I've used up this bottle as well. But the reason that I don't think I can live without this product is because it has a super light weight texture and leaves my skin feeling super soft and supple. It's not sticky and doesn't sit on the skin for a long time so it is perfect for applying other products on top of it. And since clean beauty is a huge trend right now, I feel like this product as well as other Innisfree products fit right in because the essential ingredients are naturally sourced from Korea. Besides the green tea extract, which is great for hydrating the skin and delivering antioxidants, this product also contains glycerin which is key for drawing in water and moisture to the skin.
Besides the actual product inside the bottle, I love this product and this brand because it has high end quality products at a more affordable price. I could visual so many high end skincare brands pricing a serum like this for at least $50, but this one is just $27!! So not only is it an amazing product, but you don't have to break the bank to try it.
Sunscreen:
One of the most important steps in anyone's morning skincare routine is obviously sunscreen! Sunscreen is so important for everyone to wear every single day because it protects your skin from the harmful UV rays that can cause aging as well other harmful consequences to your skin. Even if you are not going outside that day, it is still super important to wear sunscreen because the sunlight that comes in through the windows still has an effect on your skin. Another skincare myth is that you do not need to wear sunscreen if it cold or could outside. That is absolutely not true because the UV rays from the sun will still come out and they will have contact with your skin no matter what the weather is. My absolute favorite sunscreen is the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen because of the unique formula and texture of this product.
I love this product because of how versatile it is. It will work for every skin type and it leaves no white cast so it can also be used on all different skin tones. This is also one of the only sunscreens I have tried that is a silicone based product. It does an amazing job at smoothing and evening the texture of your skin and can also be used as a primer underneath your makeup. Silicone is and silicone derivatives are controversial in the skincare industry, but silicone has several useful qualities in your skincare and makeup. Silicones, dimethicones to be more specific, will create a barrier on your skin that prevents moisture loss as well as can sooth mild irritation. I have never had an issue with this product clogging my pores because it still feels super light on the skin.
Moisturizer:
When trying to come up with a single moisturizer for this category, I immediately knew which product I wanted to include. My favorite moisturizer is one that I am surprised I don't hear more people talking about and it is the Belif Moisturizing Bomb. I used to use that Belif Aqua Bomb back when I my skin was oiler and while that is still an amazing product, it was moisturizing enough for me once my skin became drier. The moisturizing bomb is a true moisturizer texture, but while it feels much lighter and thinner than other moisturizers I have tried, it never fails to make my skin feel super soft and smooth. You only need to use a little bit of this product so one jar will last you a while.
When I first started using this product, I was using it both morning and night because since it is not too thick or heavy, it won't make your face feel greasy in the morning. It is perfect to be used under makeup as well. From the moment that you apply this product to your face, it automatically soothes your skin and makes it feel amazing. I have never had any sort of burning or irritation from this product. The full size of this product goes for $38 at Sephora which is pricy for a moisturizer but a jar will last you a long time and Belif always does really amazing sets with their products so getting a value set is a great way to save money.
Face Mask:
I think this category was the hardest for me to pick just one product for but I think I have finally decided on a mask that I would not be able to live without. I think that after this I need to do a whole blog post simply dedicated to my favorite face masks. I have mentioned that I have dry skin, but my skin is also very acne prone. This makes it very difficult to find face masks that work for my skin because most masks that target acne or blemishes are charcoal clay masks which can be very drying to the skin. And on the other hand, masks that are meant to be moisturizing typically do not help with my acne. That was my main issue until I came across this amazing face mask. I am talking about the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Honey Mask. I was and still am a big fan of the Origins original Clear Improvement Charcoal mask because it is more of a gel texture that doesn't suck the life out of my skin as it dries. While that mask is still amazing for acne prone or congested skin, I love the charcoal honey mask a little bit more because the honey adds an extra amount of moisture and nourishment to my skin while the charcoal helps detoxify my pores.
You apply it all over your skin like a normal face mask, but the thing that makes it so special is that when it dries, the charcoal does not dry to a tight crackly consistency. The gel texture of this mask still dries down completely, but when you wash it off, your skin does not feel dry and dehydrated. This mask is an absolute life saver for anyone with acne prone skin, but especially for those with dry acne prone skin. This mask is $34, but it comes in quite a large container and even though I have used this several times, I feel like my tub still looks like new.
